As a leader in the publishing industry, Simon & Schuster believes that the safety of our product to consumer is very important.  We want to assure you that, unless we notify you otherwise in writing, we are confident that all products published by an imprint of Simon & Schuster comply with applicable requirements of the CPSIA.

Please click here for an electronic copy of Simon & Schuster’s letter (dated: Feb. 17, 2009) to all customers confirming compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act.  Such legislation was put into effect by The Consumer Product Safety Commission; the United States governmental agency charged with inspecting consumer products and ensuring their safety.

Choking Hazard Warnings

In the unlikey event that a small component to your Simon & Schuster book becomes detached, we advise that you immediately place the product out of a child’s reach as this could pose a choking risk.

Vendor Information on Safety/CPSIA

Simon & Schuster is a certified C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) company and expects all of the suppliers to meet the recommendations/ guidelines of the program. The C-TPAT program is a voluntary Government-Industry program designed to increase security at our borders. If you are an overseas bindery, you will be required to complete Simon & Schuster‟s C-TPAT Security Questionnaire. Please contact our Transportation Manager to obtain this form and to answer any questions you may have related to Simon & Schuster‟s participation in the program. For Domestic Vendors:
CPSIA CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY MUST BE SENT TO S&S PRIOR TO SHIPMENT AND MUST ACCOMPANY SHIPMENT, AS PER INSTRUCTIONS FROM S&S. ALL PRODUCTS MUST HAVE LESS THAN 100PPM LEAD IN SUBSTRATE AND LESS THAN 90PPM LEAD PAINT/SURFACED COAT. PRODUCTS WITH TOY/NOVELTY ELEMENTS MUST HAVE LESS THAN O.1% PHTHALATES (DEHP, DBP, BBP ,DINP, DIDP,  DNOP and DNHP).
 
For International Vendors:
CPSIA CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY MUST BE RECEIVED FROM S&S PRIOR TO SHIPMENT AND MUST ACCOMPANY SHIPMENT, AS PER INSTRUCTIONS FROM S&S. ALL PRODUCTS MUST HAVE LESS THAN 100PPM LEAD IN SUBSTRATE AND LESS THAN 90PPM LEAD PAINT/SURFACE COAT. PRODUCTS WITH TOY/NOVELTY ELEMENTS MUST HAVE LESS THAN O.1% PHTHALATES (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP, DNOP and DNHP).
